Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar launched the Kisan Store by Amazon on September 2nd 2021. The launch of the store is in tandem with the foresight of the Government of India to empower farmers and leverage technology to improve and transform the Indian farming sector.

What Is Kisan Store?

Kisan Store is an online platform, and with the launch of this store farmers across the country will be able to access more than 8000 agricultural inputs like seeds, farm tools, plant protection and nutrition, and many other agricultural tools at affordable and competitive prices on Amazon India, along with the facility of convenient delivery at the doorsteps of the farmers. 

Farmers can choose their products of choice from a gamut of thousands of products from 20+ brands made available by the store. This gives the farmers the option to choose from a wide spectrum of commodities, the product of their choice and necessity. This range of products is made available by hundreds of Small and Medium Enterprises spread across the country. The Kisan Store by Amazon provides a range of payment options. The option of payment by Cash on Delivery is made available for the farmers along with other modes of payments like Net Banking, UPI, Amazon Pay, and Credit and Debit Cards.

Farmers can choose to shop using any of the five Indian languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada on Amazon.in. Farmers are also provided with the option to visit any of the 50000+ Amazon Easy Stores spread across the country to avail assisted shopping facilities. Under this initiative, the Amazon Easy Store owners will help the farmers browse through the range of products available online, choose the product of their need and choice, create their Amazon accounts, place orders and checkout to buy.

Minister of Agriculture, Narendra Singh Tomar, while addressing the event said, “It gives me immense pleasure to launch Amazon Kisan Store. I hope this initiative proves to be beneficial for the farmers and the people associated with the farming community to engage the Indian farmers in the modern era of digital economy, increase the productivity of agricultural produce, provide services like logistics industry”. 

Putting emphasis on the various government initiatives and schemes, Narendra Singh Tomar said, “Prime Minister is constantly paying attention to the development of the agriculture sector. For the progress of farmers, modernity and new technologies are being incorporated in agriculture. The country and the world are well-known with the skill of our agricultural scientist. I hope that this initiative will prove to be successful as well as beneficial and Amazon India will continue to contribute to fulfill Prime Minister’s dream of building a self-reliant India.”
