Onam 2021

There’s nothing better than food and celebration at a festival. The gathering of the families, the exchange of gifts, the dress-up of everyone, the good food, the ambience, etc. Sadhya is also celebrated during the Onam festival. All over the world, the celebration of Onam begins on August 12. This festival is celebrated in memory of King Mahabali, who was kind and loved by all. It is believed that he returned to Kerala on Onam, which is why we celebrate for 10 days. Harvest Festival 2021 will take place on August 21. Beginning August 12, the festival continues until September 23. Onam is the star of the show. Traditional white sarees will be worn by the women, while the men, in veshti (dhoti), will be worn by the men. There is a special snake boat race called vallam kali during the Onam celebration. The boat is used for water races.

A number of delicious food items, decorations, and activities accompany this festival for the Malayalis. In the end, nothing beats the grand spread of the Onam Sadhya, which is a big part of this festival. For Onam, 26 or more vegetarian dishes with over 600 ingredients are prepared and served on banana leaves.
